I qualified from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh in 1998. I chose to specialise in neuro-rehabilitation and have worked at the Scottish Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (SBIRS) in Edinburgh for 6½ years and am now the Occupational Therapy Lead Clinician for this service. The unit is a national tertiary service, accepting some of the most complex cases of acquired brain injuries from across Scotland.
I supervise the clinical training of OT students and am involved in the writing and teaching of the OT section of the Edinburgh Brain Injury Rehabilitation Training course, a SBIRS clinician-led course accredited by Queen Margaret University College (QMUC). I also participate in teaching topics related to OT neuro-rehabilitation at QMUC and in interdisciplinary teaching to Medical students from the University of Edinburgh.
I keep my own knowledge up to date by attending training courses regularly and I am a member of the National Association of Neurological Occupational Therapists.
