I initially worked for reach as a Personal Programme Assistant whilst at University in my final year of my Occupational Therapy Degree. This gave me valuable insight into effective rehabilitation.
I gained 5 years experience working within the NHS and have now worked with reach as a Programme Manager since September 2004.
Throughout my NHS experience to date I have maintained my interest in Brain Injury Rehabilitation but have also developed skills in Rheumatology Rehabilitation. I have worked in a number of hospitals in the North East covering both Neurology and Rheumatology Rehabilitation.
In the past I have worked in many business fields, including setting up and running my own small business as a sole trader, so I have insight into the skills required. Since graduating I have attended both internal and external courses and have been involved in organising conferences for NAROT. I have experience of dealing with challenging behaviours and within my current role I plan and co-ordinate education groups in the North East (rheumatology) and have developed links with the voluntary sector. I am also involved in the teaching of medical students.
From September 5th 2005 I will be undertaking more of a management
role, acting as Head of Department at Hexham General Hospital, and
this is likely to be for a year. I am also applying to do a Post
Graduate Diploma in Rheumatology.
