Since qualifying in 1986, I have had varied experience as an occupational
therapist, including working in the fields of mental health, older adults, paediatrics and brain
injury. In 1994, I gained a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. My experience in
brain injury is from working with the Herefordshire Community Head Injury Service from 1996 -
2002. I also served as a member of the national clinical forum for brain injury (part of NANOT),
and was involved in developing standards of practice for occupational therapists working in this
field. I started working for reach in 2001 and am currently the programme manager for South
Wales and South West England. I am also currently employed within the N.H.S. as a senior
occupational therapist for a hospital-based rehabilitation service.
