My career in Occupational Therapy began in 1991
in New York, USA. I worked in an inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation
setting with a variety of complex neurological disabilities including
Acquired Brain Injury. My responsibilities included assessing and
prescribing specialist seating and wheelchairs, assessing driving
skills and providing rehabilitation programmes for skills needed
for activities ranging from self-care to employment.
I have worked in the UK since 1999 providing
Occupational Therapy to a variety of patients in the community with
complex neurological disabilities. I am a committee member of the
National Association of Occupational Therapists regional group.
I also teach Occupational Therapy students occasionally at the University
of East Anglia in subjects relevant to neuro-rehabilitation.
